Dr. Tehemina Richardson
“I believe that if a child is introduced to dentistry from a young age in a caring and compassionate way they will always enjoy their visits to the dentist.”
A graduate of Northwestern University, Dr. Tehemina Richardson completed her dental training at New York University, where she earned multiple distinctions including admission to the pediatric dental honors program and membership in the dental honors society. Since returning to Chicago, she has achieved diplomate status with the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and became a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, two positions that reflect her commitment to peer certification and continuing education. She has been on staff at the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago since 2011, and has recently joined the physician staff at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital.
Prior to establishing her practice in Park Ridge, Dr. Richardson spent 11 years as part of a pediatric dental practice in Chicago and the northwest suburbs. A mother herself, Dr. Richardson is committed to the health and well-being of her pediatric dental patients. In her spare time, she enjoys singing with a local a cappella group, knitting, and reading.
We Love Our Clients!
My daughter is extremely phobic of any dental procedure. When (the amazing) Dr Richardson said she was going to do sealants on her molars without full general anesthesia (which costs over $2000), I was thinking “good luck with that plan.” To my utter amazement I watched her do the whole procedure by putting on a full-blown Academy-Award worthy performance for her while doing all the technical work. I am sitting next to her working on my son right now. She is doing a pulpectomy and cap under nitrous gas. Again, she is amazing. Can’t recommend highly enough.–E.L.
From the very beginning, when my daughter was just over 3, Dr. Tehemina put her at ease by using the “magic nose” (having the child press his/her nose to help lower and raise the dental chair) and being very nice (my kids pick up on other people’s emotions very easily) and chatty with her. Dr. Tehemina very lovingly establishes a great rapport with my children and never makes them feel as though they are being rushed. She explains every movement that she makes and asks them if it’s ok to continue or begin anything. Plus, she does it all with great patience and a wonderful smile. It’s clear that she loves what she does. I have to drive anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour to get to the office, and I recommend her and her office to anyone that I can.–Navreet H.
Our four-year-old who needed “silver sparkles” (fillings) is now a fifteen-year-old who looks forward to going to the dentist because Dr. Tehemina is such an awesome pediatric dentist. Our family thinks she is the BEST!–Annie A.
I think what sums it all up is that after having 5 cavities filled, my daughter announced that now she wants to be a dentist, just like Dr. T!–Jennifer S.
Your First Visit
Believe it or not, your child’s first visit to the dentist can be fun! It’s our goal to provide a pleasant and friendly environment for all our patients.
Before your child’s first appointment, please contact us so we can provide you with a quick and easy form to fill out and bring with you on your first visit. You are also welcome to arrive fifteen minutes early to complete the form in the office. We will be happy to keep your insurance information on file for your convenience, so it is helpful to bring your medical and/or dental insurance information with you.
During the appointment, we will complete an examination and address any questions or concerns you and your child may have. We may also clean teeth, take radiographs, and/or apply fluoride. We will tailor recommendations for your child in the areas of oral health and hygiene, diet and nutrition, and at-home fluoride use.
Remember: Your positive attitude has a big impact on your child’s visit to the dentist.. You can leave the explaining to us–that’s our favorite part! If you do feel you need to prepare your child, there are many possibilities including videos, books, and role-play at home. Whatever happens, be reassured that our goal is to patiently prepare your child to be a good dental patient for life.
Whether you want to make an appointment, follow up on a previous visit, or just ask a question, we’re here for you! Call, stop by, or just fill out the form below.
